What is Central Valley Bike Month?Central Valley Bike Month is a campaign that takes place in Fresno, Merced, Madera, Tulare, and Kings Counties each year. The focus of our campaign is to promote bicycle use as a mode of transportation whether for running errands, commuting, riding recreationally, or working. We encourage people to get out of their cars and on their bikes year-round, but we make it a big deal every May so that as more people become energized and comfortable on their bicycles they will be more likely to replace a car trip with a bicycle trip year-round. Fewer cars on the road improves air quality and reduces traffic congestion; and as more bike trips replace car trips, we expect to see a greater demand for investment in bicycling infrastructure and facilities. Can I log miles ridden on my stationary bike? Walking miles? What about miles someone has "donated" to me?We do not allow stationary bicycle miles or walking miles to be logged, and we ask that you ride your own miles rather than log miles others have ridden. The focus of our campaign is promoting bicycling as a mode of transportation. We allow recreation miles in the hopes that as more people become comfortable on their bicycles they will be more likely to replace a car trip with a bicycle trip. This is an effort to improve air quality and reduce traffic congestion in the hopes of creating a demand for investment in bicycling infrastructure and facilities. Help! My miles aren’t showing up during the rest of the year, where can I see them?Since the campaign is during the month of May, we only keep track of miles ridden during May each year. We applaud you for logging your miles year-round! Why can’t I track my miles using applications like MapMyRun, Strava, and MyFitnessPal?We have looked into these types of apps/programs and unfortunately it's not possible due to implementation costs. This is something we are working for in future years. Stay tuned! Uh-oh, I’m not receiving emails from Central Valley Bike Month.Be sure to check your spam and junk mail settings and include no-reply@cvbikemonth.com in your safe sender list. If you work for a state agency, unfortunately many of their servers do not allow our emails to go through. If you would like to receive these emails we recommend editing your email address to a home email address. If you are still not receiving emails after taking the steps above, please contact us. |
